Resilio Studio teamed up with other sustainability professions to form Te Kōpua - a diverse multidisciplinary team - to design a residential mixed use that embodies ecological, cultural, social and technological outcomes in an integrated way. The design was part of New Zealand’s first C40 design competition.
This proposal sought to create an urban development that delivers an environmentally and socially resilient and sustainable community, designed in partnership with local iwi, with inter-generational outcomes that increase the health, wellbeing and housing opportunities for people connected to the area.
Our proposal fits and complements the surrounding community, integrates and reflects local iwi values and principles including actively building the ecological function of the site and provides opportunities for diverse communities to come together to live, work, play and learn.
Te Kōpua demonstrates design leadership and innovation in mixed use development integrating a wide range of sustainable and resilient features to design a development with a projected 97% reduction of the environmental impact over the life cycle of the development compared to a standard development in New Zealand of similar scale and density.
