Resilio Studio were engaged by Auckland Council’s Community Empowerment Unit to join the project team looking to redevelop Smiths Avenue Reserve in Papakura and work with the community to reimagine the reserve as a cherished, vibrant, and thriving community centre. Specifically, we worked with the community through a series of co-design workshops and activations to help identify and confirm the community’s values, aspirations and vision for the reserve. This was used as a basis for the design of a flexible concept plan for the reserve, developed with the community. The resulting concept design included the technical investigations required to progress the design as well as an implementation strategy and preliminary cost estimates for the reserve redevelopment.
