“Green Infrastructure is a planned network of natural and constructed elements, patterns and processes in urban and rural landscapes as well as freshwater and marine environments, designed and managed to deliver a wide range of ecological functions. Linked together as a network, green infrastructure provides multiple ecological, social, cultural and economic benefits.”

Resilio Studio undertook a study of how a green infrastructure network can contribute to the ecological regeneration of Aotearoa’s bioregions, using Te Maanukanuka oo Hoturoa / Manukau Harbour catchment as a case study in response to the loss of ecological health and declining biodiversity.

In October 2022, Resilio Studio’s director Gary Marshall presented a talk about this research initiative at the NZILA conference. More information can be found on our Media page. In order to help further the science and art of mapping green infrastructure in Aotearoa, our intention is to open source this research and make the data and tools we have developed available to the wider Manukau community and to others interested in this area of work - please reach out if you would like to know more.
