Auckland Kai Lab is an ongoing project which sets out to establish a social lab to address Auckland’s most pressing and complex food challenges. Kai Lab is the first initiative in Auckland to utilise a social lab methodology, which is quickly becoming prominent in the social innovation and public sectors as a way to respond to our complex ‘wicked’ social issues. Kai Auckland engaged Resilio to support with the exploration and foundational work for the establishment of the lab, which to date has involved a series of workshops engaging and leveraging the extended Kai Auckland network to understand and define Auckland’s complex food challenges. Next steps for Kai Lab include building relationships with strategic partners, an ongoing research initiative to understand Auckland’s food challenges using a systems approach, and procuring funding for the development of the lab.
